DEAR FRIEND!

I am happy you’ve chosen my worksheets. They were created to enable the child to have a closer look at themselves, their resources, emotions and needs.

The worksheets are resources that can be used wherever you believe it is necessary, i.e. in the office, at school or at home. Every chance to meet another person and discover something new with them is highly valuable. They can be used by psychologists or educators, but also during classes developing emotional and social competences. They can be helpful also for teachers who want to stimulate emotional and social intelligence of their students. The worksheets will be great both for individual and group work.

Most of them can be used as early as in the pre-school age, but some only for the school students. There is no universal rule here and the decision to use a given worksheet should be based on your experience.

I would like to encourage you to fill in the worksheets together (in parallel) with the child and, obviously, to discuss the information. I am certain many of you will be surprised by the other person and the other way round. Remember to give the child some time and not to suggest what should be included in the worksheets in your opinion. Ensure the work can reflect what the child feels and not what you would like them to feel.

I do not usually provide detailed instructions on the worksheets. I believe you will often have your own idea to use a worksheet and do not want the instructions to disrupt the creative approach to the task. The absence of any instructions will also give the child a chance to check what help they can get from a given worksheet. But if you want to check my ideas to use the worksheet, see my proposals which are included in subsequent part of the description.

Working with a child, it is worth identifying the objectives you intend to implement to promote your pupil’s development. Every activity should be targeted at implementing a given objective. Below, you can see ideas of objectives which can be achieved when working with a child using the presented worksheets:
• developing the ability to recognize and name one’s own emotions in specific situations, • developing the ability to recognize and name others’ emotions in specific situations,
• shaping the ability to cope with emotions,
• practicing specific activities which help regulate emotions,
• forming empathy,
• constructing a realistic sense of self-esteem,
• developing empathy and promoting sensitivity to one’s own and others’ needs,
• developing social intelligence and related competences,
• developing emotional intelligence and related competences.
